Letterkenny Mayor seeks legal advice following MPs allegations

The Mayor of Letterkenny is seeking legal advice having been the centre of serious allegations by a Member of Parliament in West Minster.
MP Jim Shannon made the allegations under ‘Parliamentary Privilege’, which allows a Member of the House to openly say what they like without the fear of  legal prosecution.
Those rules apply to the UK.
The allegations centre on charges taken against Councillor Gerry McMonagle for which he was acquitted.
Councillor McMonagle says he will be seeking legal advice before commenting further on the matter.
