Letterkenny man jailed for 10 years by Cavan court on drugs charges

A Letterkenny man with a series of drugs convictions has been jailed for ten years by a Cavan Court.
Bernard Alcorn of Cluain Ard, Letterkenny faced charges of possession of drugs for sale or supply under Section 15A Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977/8
In April of 2010 in a joint operation between Donegal Gardaí and the Cavan/Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit, a van travelling on the N2 was stopped and searched.
It was reported at the time that Heroin with an estimated street value of €20,000 was recovered.
The Court heard from investigating Gardai that Alcorn had 38 previous convictions, including Possession of Drugs for Sale/Supply, a number of road traffic Offences, Burglary, Theft, Public Order and Assault.
Last month Bernard Alcorn received a two-year sentence at Letterkenny Circuit Court  for possession of ‘Heroin” with the purpose of sale/supply.
