A Catholic priest based in Gweedore has defended his calls for people not to pay the household charge.
Fr Brian O’Fearraigh says he will attend a Cant Pay Wont Pay meeting tonight in Brinaleck, were he will speak out against the charge.
The priest says he believes the charge is an unfair and unjust tax.
But Labour Senator Jimmy Harte has said that a priest should not be encouraging people to break the law.
And he’s asking does the Bishop support Fr O’Fearraighs stance…..
Meanwhile, Fr Brian O’Ferraigh says he will not be silenced by no-one.
And he’s accused Senator Jimmy Harte of bully-boy tactics…..
