Woman raped in Derry’s Shipquay Street

A major police investigation is underway after a young woman was raped in Derry.
The attack took place in the Shipquay Street area of the city at half past midnight yesterday morning.
The attacker had a local accent and was around 20 years old. He was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a checked shirt over it.
Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has condemned the attack, calling it sickening and depraved.
He says it’s imperative that anyone with any information gives it to the PSNI as a matter of urgency so that the vile individual behind this can be brought to justice as swiftly as possible.
Mr Ramsey also called on people out late to stay in groups who can look after each other.
