Donegal developer donated thousands to Fianna Fail and Progressive Democrats

Details of donations made by Donegal builder Pat Doherty to Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats during their reign in government between 2001 and 2010 have emerged today.
The well-known builder and developer’s Harcourt Developments built the Park West business campus in Dublin and is behind the Titanic Quarter project in Belfast.  The firm also has extensive interests in Britain.
The Irish Independent today reveals Harcourt Developments and its subsidiary Airscape gave €129,000 to Fianna Fáil and €44,900 to the PDs.
They are some of the biggest recorded donations given by any company to the parties.  In total, €300,000 was handed over to Fianna Fáil from a small number of builders between 2001 and 2010.
Of the €553,000 in donation from builders to the parties over the boom period, including Fine Gael, only €182,800 or 33 per cent was disclosed to the Standards in Public Office Commission.
