Jury sent home for night in Donegal rape trial

The jury in the trial of a man accused of orally raping and sexually assault a female housemate have been sent home for the night having failed to reach a verdict.

The 38-year-old man has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the charges that were alleged to have taken place on October 30, 2010 in the Donegal house he and the 20-year-old woman shared together.

The jury of five women and seven men had been considering its verdict for over two hours on day-nine of the trial when  the foreman told Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy that members wanted to return tomorrow to continue their deliberations.
