Derry Comhaltas delegates back bid for Fleadh 2013

Derry will bid to host the All-Ireland Fleadh in 2013 after a sometimes contentious debate.
At a meeting in the city last night, Comhaltas delegates voted 13 to1 in favour of the bid. Some delegates from South Derry did not attend the meeting, having earlier voiced concern that the bid for nexgt year was being linked to the city’s designation as UK City of Culture.
The bid, which could be worth £40 million to the city, must now be ratified by the Comhaltas Ulster Council.
