Those with vomiting bug symptoms asked to avoid Letterkenny General

Anyone with symptoms of the winter vomiting bug are now being asked to avoid Letterkenny General Hospital unless absolutely necessary.
The Management of the hospital has also re-issued an advisory that visiting restrictions are in place at Surgical 1 ward due to suspected cases of the bug .
As well as the visiting restrictions the hospital says that all other appropriate infection control measures have been implemented.
Arrangements will be made for family members of patients on the affected ward to visit and this should be arranged through the nurse on duty in the ward at 074 9123549.
The restrictions are in place as a precautionary measure while the ward is kept under observation over the next 24 to 48 hours.
Management are encouraging the public with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea to contact their GP or GP Out-of-Hours service in the first instance and not to attend the Emergency Department unless absolutely necessary.
Members of the public with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea at home should not come to the hospital as visitors under any circumstances.
