Power is starting to return to homes after storms battered the country overnight.
15-thousand ESB customers were in darkness this morning, after power lines were damaged – but this number has been reduced to 10-thousand homes within the last hour.
Donegal and Sligo in the North West were the worst hit areas with thousands also affected in the Midlands.
The high winds caused a lot of disruption on Donegal’s roads this morning, fallen trees and debris made driving conditions dangerous.
Derry City Council has advised that due to wind damage to the roof at Lisnagelvin Leisure Centre, the pool is closed to the public until Thursday 05th January 2012.
The gym remains open to users.
