Donegal has one of the highest rates on unpaid water charges

Donegal County Council is owed in excess of 8 million euro in unpaid water charged with reports that a significant percentage of that is due from Schools and state agencies.
The figures published in today’s Irish independent show that outside of the main urban areas, Donegal has one of the largest amounts of un paid water charges in the country.
In total, local authorities are owed €124m by  businesses across the State for water.
This is despite councils promising a ‘get tough’ approach more than two years ago, when €90m in charges was outstanding.
