It’s been confirmed that Derry City Manager Stephen Kenny is in talks with Premier Division Champions Shamrock Rovers to become their new man in charge. Kenny is in negotiations with the Rovers board after the club moved quickly to identify their preferred candidate following Michael O’Neill’s departure from the Tallaght Stadium last week. During his two spells in charge at the Brandywell Kenny has led the Candystripes to four League Cups, one FAI Cup and a First Division league title. In a further blow to the North West Club, two of last season’s squad will not be rejoining them for the 2012 campaign. Central defender Stuart Greacen has opted to sign for Irish League side Glentoran, while midfielder Gareth McGlynn is taking a year out to travel to Australia.
