Protest held outside Bank of Ireland in Letterkenny

A protest has taken place outside the Letterkenny branch of Bank of Ireland.
The Sinn Fein organised protest is to highlight the bank’s refusal, so far, to pass the interest rate cut announced by the ECB this month onto its variable rate mortgage customers.
Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank are the only major banks to refuse to pass on the cut.
Pressure is increasing on BOI to pass on the cut as it is covered under the Government guarantee and part owned by the state .
Speaking from the protest, Sinn Fein Councillor Mick Quinn says the banks inaction is disgraceful:
