Decision taken not to axe the A5 upgrade – new time frame by 2012

A decision has today been taken by the North South Ministerial Council not to axe the A5 upgrade.
Instead the Irish government has set in stone a 50 million pounds sterling investment in the project between now and 2016.
Officials on both sides of the border will also be appointed to work together to progress the project.
A new time frame and funding agreement will be in place in time for the next North South Ministerial Council meeting in June 2012
Donegal Fine Gael Deputy Joe McHugh says that other means of funding the project should also be explored:
