Racing – Harley Reflects On Apprentice Winning Season

Earlier this month Donegal jockey Martin Harley was crowned UK Apprentice Jockey champion as the flat season in Britain came to a close. Harley rode over 50 winners to land the coveted title. The final week of the season saw him winning on 8/1 shot Night Flash at Kempton on the Wednesday as well as 7/1 Bavarian Princess and 8/1 The Drunken Doctor, both at Wolverhampton. This season Harley has struck a good relationship with trainer Mick Channon, who has given the young jockey multiple winning rides. He also rode successfully for Alan McCabe and Karl Burke in England as well as for his brother Shaun Harley. It’s been a tremendous year for Martin who is  already looking to build on this years success. Martin was home for a few days last weekend and joined Oisin Kelly in studio during Saturday Sport.
