Inishowen man confident of winning VRT case

A Donegal man is close to winning a case in Europe that could eventually see Vehicle Registration Tax on vehicles scrapped.
Inishowen man, Ryan Stewart will fly to Brussels on November 21st for a hearing in the European Court of Justice.
The European Commission this week warned the Irish Government that it cannot put VRT at the full rate on leased, hired or Higher Purchase vehicles used by cross-Border workers.
The ruling means drivers would pay a proportion of the tax based on how often it was used in the Republic – that could be as little as 10% of the current rate.
Ryan Stewart says he’s confident that VRT will be scrapped eventually…….
