Legal expert rejects Fianna Fail tank charge stance as scaremongering

A legal expert says mis-information about the cost of septic tank inspections is scaremongering.
The European Commission is seeking to heavily fine Ireland for not carrying out proper inspections.
New legislation published by Environment Minister Phil Hogan will mean owners will face a registration charge of up to 50 euro.
But Fianna Fail deputy leader Eamon O Cuiv believes with multiple inspection charges and upgrade charges it will cost householders up to 12-thousand euro.
Alice Whittaker is a partner at Philip Lee Solicitors in Dublin.
She doesn’t agree it will cost homeowners as much as Deputy O Cuiv claims.
