People in Donegal could face bills of €12,000 to upgrade their septic tanks

A Senator claims that people in Donegal could face bills of up €12,000 to upgrade their septic tanks, according to new legislation published by the Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan today.

The legislation includes a registration charge, multiple inspection charges and possible significant upgrade charges.

Senator Brian O'Domhnaill says parts of the bill are much worse than he anticipated, and claimed that this bill was published today in a secretive manner, with no notification from the minister.....
