Efforts ongoing to make Buncrana network more competitive

Buncrana Town Council has been told that if a spur from Project Kelvin is extended into the town, the cost of connecting to the town’s Metropolitan Area Network could be cut by as much as 50%.
The issue was raised in the chamber by Cllr Lee Tedstone, who is seeking a workshop on the issue to ensure that all options and opportunities are fully understood.
Cllr Tedstone acknowledged that a recent meeting did show a very limited takeup of the MAN network in Buncrana, but that is linked to the fact that there are nine providers linked to the Letterkenny MAN, and one to the Buncrana one, and that impacts on competitiveness.
Officials want to establish a project team involving Town and County Council staff, a move Cllr Tedstone supports:
