Presidential Candidate no longer seeking council’s formal support

Independent Presidential Candidate Sean Gallagher is asking for a motion of nomination due to be put forward at the next meeting of Donegal County Council to be withdrawn.
Mr Gallagher has already secured the support of four County Council’s and is officially a presidential candidate.
With that in mind, he has thanked all other council’s who were due to vote on backing him, but has now requested that they no longer do so.
The move leaves the option open to Donegal County Councillors to back another candidate if they are asked to do so.
