Storm update: Winds begin to ease but many are still left without power

Donegal continues to be lashed by storm force winds this afternoon, but there are indications that winds may be beginning to moderate inland.
Gusts of up to 137 km/h have been recorded on Arranmore Island while at Malin Head wind speeds have peaked at122km/h.
There are numerous reports of trees down in a number of areas across Donegal.
At one point 6,000 homes were without power – the ESB says that supply has now been returned to 5,000 of those effected
Areas in Glenties, Convoy, Ballyshannon and Gortlee are still without power.
The Blaney Bridge over Mulroy Bay has been closed until further notice, while in Derry, the Foyle Bridge has closed to Heavy Goods Vehicles, with a 40mph speed limit for all other vehicles.
