Donegal students receiving college offers

The points for college courses in science, technology and agriculture have increased dramatically this year.

While in contrary to previous years - the points needed for courses in arts and business have decreased.

The first round of CAO college offers has been posted online this morning, with offer notices arriving in the post for students today.

Tomorrow is the deadline for Leaving Certificate students who want to view some exam papers - they must complete the application form and return it to their school by tomorrow.

In Letterkenny Institute of Technology, the highest points requirements are for nursing courses. General Nursing, requires 400 points, Psychiatric Nursing requires 365 and Intellectual Disability Nursing needs 350.

The points requirements for mature applicants are around 220 points for the three nursing courses, up sharply on last year. Offers to mature students are also dependent on performance at interview.

The highest points requirements for Level 7 courses are 365 for Veterinary Nursing and 320 for Health and Social Studies.
