It was speculated that the winners at each weight would be included on the team for the World’s which also doubles up as an Olympic qualifier. However following a meeting at the National Stadium in Dublin on Saturday the Boxing Council of the Irish Amateur Boxing Association named their Elite squad which did not include Quigley or Derry man Tyrone Mc Cullagh. Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlon, John Joe Nevin, David Oliver Joyce, Roy Sheehan, Darren O'Neill, Joe Ward, Ken Egan and Con Sheehan were all named on the Irish team for Baku.
