In a blow to the Republic of Ireland's European Championship qualifying hopes, Everton confirmed on Tuesday night that Seamus Coleman is facing a lengthy lay-off after scans revealed he has ankle ligament damage. He suffered the injury during a pre-season friendly against Villarreal last weekend. Coleman is now set to miss next month’s double header against Slovakia and Russia. The club is reluctant to say how long he's likely to be out for ahead of further tests later this week, but an initial prognosis could see the 22-year-old out for up to six months. This is a huge blow to the Killybegs lad who was also expected to play a crucial role in the Premier League this season for his club.
