Emergency funding found for Gartan road repairs ahead of triathlon

Fears of a bumpy ride for the thousands expected to take part in an All Ireland Triathlon have been eased after funding was found to repair a stretch of road at the Gartan Adventure Centre in Letterkenny.
Because of the amount of competitors due to take part in the event next month, organisers sought repairs to the road in and out of the centre, to be told no money was available.
However, following an appeal, Donegal County Council and the VEC have now agreed to joint fund repairs, a move welcomed by Councillor Dessie Larkin.
