Campaign for child sex abuse probe in Raphoe Diocese expected to intensify

A religious affairs commentator is predicting that pressure will now mount for an investigation into clerical child sex abuse in the diocese of Raphoe.

It comes as the long-awaited report into the handling of clerical abuse allegations in the diocese of Cloyne is to be published today.

The Commission of Investigation examined allegations against 19 priests working in the diocese over a 13 year period - between 1996 and 2009.

Victims will get a chance to read the report before it's officially published later this afternoon.

The Government will then give its response to what will be the forth major report into clerical child sexual abuse in Ireland.

Religious Affairs Correspondent with the Irish Times Patsy McGarry says there will definitely be calls for investigations to be carried out in other dioceses............
