It’s been confirmed that proposals for the reform of the EU’s Common Fisheries Policy will be published next week.
Fisheries Maria Damanaki will launch her proposals next week after several months of consultation, which saw a substantial input from the North West region.
North West MEP Pat The Cope Gallagher has argued throughout the process that there should be more regionalisation within the system, with more decisions being taken at a local level.
He’s also hopeful that the Commissioner will ease some restrictions, particularly those pertaining to inshore fisheries and Islands……
