Buncrana Councillor Lee Tedstone is calling for a number of measures to make the town more business friendly, saying that employers and developers will respond if incentives are offered.
He moved a number of motions in the council, one calling for a review of development charges, the other seeking reduced rates for start up businesses.
Cllr Tedstone says offering concessions for employment and growth creation will offer a return to the council and vastly improve the business environment.
Officials say any rates changes must not threaten the council's financial position, and that development charges will be reviewed at the end of this year.
