Gardai warn of fake priest targetting vulnerable people in Donegal

Gardai in Donegal are urging people to look out for older people in their communities.
It follows a number of reports from various parts of the county that a man appears to be posing as a priest as a cover to get into the homes of older people and persons residing alone in isolated locations.
Gardai believe the man calls to homes dressed as a priest, and seeking money for what he claims is missionary work, but they  have reason to suspect that this person is not a priest and has criminal intent in mind.
An accurate description is not available, but the man may be driving a modern white English registered car.
A number of reports have originated along the Donegal / Fermanagh border.
Local Garda Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Paul Wallace is urging people to discreetly monitor activity in the vicinity of older persons homes. He says if they see anything suspicious, they should note vehicle registration numbers and pass them on on to local Gardai.
Sergeant Wallace says there will be an increase of activity in rural communities over the summer, but the criminally minded may alsdo seek to use that as a cover to prey on the most isolated and vulnerable in our community.
