Rugby – Letterkenny end season with the double

Letterkenny rugby team celebrated their double in style, with a 13 point win over Monaghan last Saturday in Dave Gallagher Memorial Park. The win also confirmed promotion to Qualifying Two of the Ulster League. In the early stages of the match Letterkenny led by 13-0 but before half time Monaghan reduced that deficit to 3 points. In the second half Letterkenny had a strong wind to play against but prevailed scoring two tries. Letterkenny’s main man was Mark Scott who scored two tries on the day while Brian Peoples also kicked over two penalties and a conversion in the 23-10 win. The victory brings the curtain down on a super season for Letterkenny adding the league title to the Gordan West cup they won a number of weeks ago.
