150th anniversary of the Derryveagh Evictions being commemorated this week

Today marks the the begining of the 150th anniversary of the Derrveagh Evictions, with a number of events taking place over the weekend.
Tomorrow, the Australian Ambassador Bruce Davis and local historian May Mc Clintock will be in Gartan to help launch “A Deathly Silence”, a book written by Termon National School teacher Christy Gillespie and his class, telling the personal stories of the 244 people which were evicted over the three day operation.
