18-year-old man in court over road death

A man has appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court accused of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
Conor Breen, 18, from Corbo Road, Omagh, is also accused of causing grievous injury to two women, aged 48 and 23, and a three-year-old girl.
The charges relate to a crash on Doogary Road, Omagh, on Saturday in which 26-year-old Simon Glenn, died.
18 year-old Connor Breen was released on bail and will appear before Omagh Court on 17 May.
He is also further charged with failing to display R-plates.
Mr Glenn, from the Strabane area, was killed in the accident which happened at about 0410 BST on Saturday.
His mother Martina Glenn, girlfriend Karen Keown, and three-year old niece, Lily Glenn, were seriously injured
They were travelling in a Vauxhall Vectra when it collided with a Nissan 4×4 jeep being driven by the accused.
DC Peter Grimes told Enniskillen Magistrates Court that it is alleged the jeep had crossed into the middle of the road, forcing the other vehicle to take evasive action.
He said that police had taken statements from witnesses who claimed Mr Breen had been out drinking in a bar and had drank three pints of beer and six to 10 shots of vodka and coke.
The police officer said they had been told that Mr Breen had been dropped off at home by a designated driver, but it is alleged that he had then decided to walk the 2.5 miles back to the vehicle in order to get cigarettes.
He said police had been given a statement from a woman who came across the scene of the accident.
She claims that Mr Breen had flagged her down and had asked to be taken to Omagh to get cigarettes.
When she asked what had happened to the car it is alleged that Breen said he didn’t know.
It was also revealed in court that the defendant’s mobile phone had been seized by police.
DC Grimes said Mr Breen told officers he may have been using it either just before or at the time of the acciden
