Donegal County Council is meeting in Lifford for its February Monthly meeting today, with three empty seats. Sinn Fein's Padraig Mac Lochlainn, Fianna Fail's Charlie Mc Conalogue and Independent Thomas Pringle are no longer members of the council having been elected to the Dail.
In the case of the parties, they will now be considering their replacements for the council chamber, but in the case of Cllr Pringle, his replacement has already been named.
The new councillor to represent the Donegal Electoral Area will be 31 year old teacher John Campbell, a member of staff at St Columba's Comprehensive School in Glenties, Deputy Pringle's Director of Elections.
Mr Campbell says this has been on the cards for some time.........
