Letterkenny Councillor Dessie Larkin has confirmed he will not be running as an Independent candidate in Donegal North East, and intends remaining on as a member of Fianna Fail.
Last week, it was widely believed he would be added to the ticket after Deputy Niall Blaney indicated he would not be going forward again. However, party headquarters chose to go with a one candidate strategy, with Cllr Charlie Mc Conalogue alone on the ticket.
This led to claims that Cllr Larkin was shafted by Fianna Fail, with calls for him to leave the party and go it alone.
However, he says after listening carefully to what people have had to say, he wants to play his part in reforming and rebuilding the party from within…………
