Letterkenny’s Darren Mc Brearty is the fastest Irishman over 800m this year following his win in Austria on Tuesday night. Mc Brearty clocked a stunning time of 1.47.87 at the Vienna Indoor Classic to take the race victory. The time also qualifies him for the European Senior Indoor Championships in Paris next month. Darren’s previous best time was 1.48.88 which he ran last weekend in Cardiff finishing a close second to his clubmate Mark English. By shaving a second of that time the Letterkenny lad has now set the benchmark for the other Irish contenders this year.
