Brian Cowen resigns as Fianna Fail leader

Brian Cowen has resigned as leader of Fianna Fail.
The Offaly TD will remain on as Taoiseach until the general election on the 11th of March.
Speaking at a press conference in Dublin Mr Cowen says stories about him are taking away from the work of the party…

Meanwhile bookmakers have been quick to issue odds as to who the next FF leader will be. Michael Martin is the odds on favourite, if punters fancy Donegal Deputy Mary Couglan’s chances – odds of 50-1 are available.
