Major land acquisition announcement for LYIT

Letterkenny IT will this morning unveil details of an eight million euro land purchase.
Tanaiste and Education Minister has already given approval to LYIT to buy two seperate pieces of land to facilitate growth and expansion.
They include a 10 acre site directly opposite the institute on the Port Road. The site is owned by former Fianna Fail Councillor Terry McEniff and former town clerk Peter Coyle.
The second piece of land is 66 acres and lies adjacent to the Knocknamona Roundabout, it is owned by the HSE.
One of the main causes of concern for residents in the IT’s locality has been the issue of parking for its 3,000 students which would have been exacerbated by an anticipated growth in numbers in the coming years.
It is expected that part of the land on the Port Road will be used to address that issue.
