Minister says specualtion of Donegal Hospice closure ‘without foundation’

A government minister has given a commitment that the Donegal Hospice will not close next month.
At present, the hospice is staffed by Specialist Consultant Donal Martin and three other doctors.
This week on Highland Radio, Dr Martin claimed the HSE is planning to cut that to two doctors.
If that happens, Dr Martin said, then he will have no choice but to stop taking inn new patients from the 21st of December
The issue was raised in the Dail last night by Donegal North East Deputy Joe Mc Hugh, who sought assurances from Junior Minister Michael Finneran.
Minister Finneran confirmed that pay and staffing issues are under discussion, but said suggestions the hospice might close are without foundation:
