100% rise in number of suicides in Donegal

There’s been a 100% rise in the number of suicides in Donegal according to the Central Statistics Office.
Figures published this week by the CSO show there were 20 recorded suicides in the county last year, compared to 10 in 2008, with the county’s recorded suicide rate now higher than the national average.
Fr James Sweeney has worked in the suicide prevention field for several years. He says the increase is not a surprise, and believes the true figures are even higher.
