Road projects set to be scrapped

Plans to progress some of the Country's major roads projects look set to be axed.

According to reports this morning, forty major road and rail projects are being suspended. The scrapped roads include most outstanding road projects in Donegal, with the exception of the A5 tie in element of the Letterkenny to Lifford Road.

The list, published in this morning's Irish Independent, does say the Atlantic Corridor linking Letterkenny and Waterford, but doesn't specify where along the route the works will take place.

Plans for nine new motorway rest areas have also been shelved.
