Future of Largo Foods’ Donegal plant in doubt

The Managing Director of Largo Foods says the future of the company’s Gweedore plant is now in doubt.
Raymond Coyle says he had planned to manufacture a new rice based line in Gweedore at a cost of 2.2 million euro, with support from Udaras na Gaeltachta, and had asked existing staff to accept a 3.5% wage cut to cover some of the increased costs in energy and transport
In a statement to Highland Radio News today, Mr Coyle said that in the absense of an agreement, the planned investment will not to Gweedore, and some other processes may now be removed.
However, he stressed if a resolution can be found, the investment can be rescued.
