It’s emerged that Malin Head Coast Guard station will close for a brief period early next year.
In the Seanad last night, Senator Cecilia Keavney asked what the delay in promised improvements following a government promise to retain and update the facility.
Upgrading of the station’s equipment was due to start at the beginning of this year but no work has been done to date.
Responding, Junior Minister Mary White said in the medium to long term, a new building will be needed to house new equipment and the staff required to run it.
