Cllr Tadhg Culbert set to become Mayor of Letterkenny

It's expected that Fianna Fail Councillor Tadhg Culbert will become Mayor of Letterkenny at this evening's Town Council AGM, with Cllr Victor Fisher set to become Deputy Mayor.

The positions have been offered under the terms of an agreement drawn up by the five non-Fianna Fail members, a deal which led to some rancerous exchanges at last year's AGM.

Labour Cllr Jimmy Harte was one of the authors of that deal ; He says any animosity has died down, and that's the way it should be, particularly if the future of the Town Council structure comes under threat......

Meanwhile, in Buncrana, Clr Padraig Mac Lochlainn is set to become Mayor for the second time, with Independent Cllr Michael Grant expected to be elected as his deputy.

Cllr Mac Lochlainn says he's proud to be Mayor of Buncrana again.
