Bloody Sunday sculpture vandalised

A memorial sculpture commemorating the victims of Bloody Sunday has been vandalised in Derry’s Bogside. The carved red brick sculpture was almost complete when it was attacked and badly damaged in the gasyard Centre at the weekend.
Artist Brian McGee, who began work on the sculpture a year ago with a group of students said he cannot understand why the art work was vandalised.
There’s local speculation that the attack was carried out by what’s been described as a gang of teenagers who have been involved in a number of attacks on houses in the area, and also involved in interface violence.
Local Sinn Fein Cllr Patricia Logue says coming just says after the emotion of the Saville Report, this attack is disgusting………..
