The funeral of Derry boxing great Billy "Spider" Kelly will take place today. Billy passed away on Friday following a prolonged illness. Kelly made history in October 1954 when he emulated his father Jimmy by winning the British Empire featherweight title in Belfast and went on to take the British title three months later before losing a European Title bout in Dublin. The Derry legend finished his career aged 39 with 56 wins, 24 defeats and four draws from 84 professional bouts.
