Slight drop in those signing on in March

There has been a small drop in the number of people signing on the Live Register in Donegal during March
According to the CSO the Jobless figure still stands in excess of 21,000 county-wide.
The figures show that last month there was 21,074 people on the live register, that is drop of 84 on Febuary but up 3,500 when compared to March of 2009.
All eight offices in the county recorded a drop in those signing on, albeit by very small margins.
The biggest drop was in the Donegal Town area with 48 less people signing on. Inishowen remains one the county’s main unemployment black spot.
4,904 peope were signing on last month, a drop of 33 on Febuary but up by 676 compared to March 2009.
The numbers signing on in Letterkenny fell by four, Killybegs by six, Ballybofey by seven and Ballyshanon by four..
The drop was somewhat larger in Dungloe, 2,214 signed on in March, down 37 on Febuary’s figure.
