Developer pleads guilty in case relating to fatal fall

A Donegal property developer has pleaded guilty to a charge in connection with the death of a woman in an accident at a Letterkenny hotel in 2006.
Hughie McGee of Dunree Construction pleaded guilty at letterkenny Circuit Court yesterday of failing to ensure that Mona Duffy was safe from risk at or around Gallagher’s Hotel, Letterkenny.
Today’s Donegal Democrat reports that Mona Duffy died after a fall from a wall located at the side of the hotel building on the 3rd of July 2006.
Originally from Letterkenny Mrs Duffy was living in Co Monaghan.
At yesterday’s sitting, Judge John O Hagan said he knew Mr McGee and asked if the defendent would have any problem with him hearing the case.
Mr McGee indicated through his council, Peter Nolan that  he did not have a problem with the judge hearing the matter.
Judge O’Hagan is expected to deal with the matter in court later today.
