Protest at government withdrawal form Greencastle project to escelate

The Greencastle Harbour Users’ Committee is to ramp-up its campaign to have a government decision to abandon the harbour’s development reversed.
A series of meetings with politicians have been held over the last number of days in reaction to the news that the government is withdrawing from the multi million euro project because of budget restraints.
8.2 million euro has been spent to date constructing a breakwater however it is claimed that, as it stands, the harbour is in a more dangerous condition and that 5 million euro investment will be literally washed away.
Association Spokesperson Seamus Bovaird says the least they’d accept is staff remaining on site to monitor and maintain work done to date:
