Byrne family reject Blaney claim that they were “misled”

The family whose complaint sparked an investigation into the ‘lost at sea scheme’ has launched a scathing attack on Deputy Niall Blaney after he claimed they had been misled.
In the Dail yesterday Deputy Blaney also question the independence of the Ombudsman whose report said the scheme was flawed and that the Byrne’s should recived 250 thousand euro in compensation.
The government has rejected the recomendations.
In backing that stance Deputy Blaney blamed Jim Higgin’s MEP for misleading the Byrne family into thinking they should have been included in the scheme.
Responding Danny Byrne said he was furious with Niall Blaney’s suggestions.
