Derryman charged with causing death by dangerous driving

A 22-year-old man has been charged with causing the death of 24 year-old Martin Gallagher by dangerous driving in Derry at Halloween.
Jonathan McGonigle, from Moyola Drive was released on bail with the case adjourned until the 27th of April.
Mr McGonigle also faces charges of failing to stop or report the accident, of driving without a licence or insurance and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He was also ordered to keep to a curfew and not to have any contact with the Gallagher family.
Martin Gallagher, from Sandale Park in the city, had dressed up for Halloween and was returning home when he was hit outside the home of one of his best friends on the Racecourse Road.
He was a member of Foyle Valley Athletic Club and had run a number of marathons for charity.
