Donegal County Council is to stop gritting the Letterkenny to Fintown Road over Meenaroy.
While Donegal is escaping the brunt of the snowfalls which are affecting the South and East this afternoon, the county will continue to experience severe frost and sub-zero conditions, and some sparodic snowfall has been reported in the North of the county already today, particularly in Inishowen.
The council also says it's experiencing difficulty with some of its plant, and as a result, it's been decided to scale back gritting operations on Meenaroy from Ronnie Moore's to the Mill Wheel, with signs going up on the affected stretch of road.
Meanwhile, several farmers in Donegal gritting their own roads with material they asre receiving from county council depots, and some are now travelling in to Derry to buy river sand from the harbour authorioties there.
Vincent Lynn says anyone who wants to avail of gritting material can get it at council depots.
